Old Friends

Ana de Alvear is a contemporay Spanish artist who makes the most incredible photo-realistic coloured pencil drawings- often on a mammoth scale.


I met Ana in 1985 at the Gallery and home of Nicholas Treadwell, who specialises in a type of art called 'hyper realism.'. A week's stay there was the prize I won for a piece of art which I made, called 'On the Beach,' which won the student prize at that year's Bath Art Festival. She was also a guest of the Gallery owner.


Sadly, I don't know what happened to this picture.It was not all that large- about 50cm square.
I did one of people in a swimming pool for Nicholas which he still has in his collection.
